The AMD RX VEGA 56 and 64 is finally here. Though there are certain things going on with the release of these two new cards from AMD. One being the jacked up prices, that instead of being sold at the MSRP. Is now being sold at a higher price with $100 extra for both the VEGA 56 and 64. Where the MSRP from AMD for both their VEGA 56 and 64 were $399 and $499 respectively.
So what’s happening with the pricing of these two new AMD VEGA cards? Well it seems the MSRP pricing on both the VEGA 56 and 64 were for early adopters. Who have already got their hands on the standalone VEGA 56 and 64 cards, with none left in the stock. This is where the higher priced VEGA 56 and 64 comes in with an extra $100 on top. That makes the VEGA 56 priced at $499. While the higher end VEGA 64 is currently being offered for $599. Reason being that these are the bundled versions. Which will come along with two free games. Including Prey and the upcoming game from Bethesda called Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.
Though both the VEGA 56 and 64 are only available as a bundle right now. Not every user is looking into investing $100 extra. When options from NVIDIA at a much cheaper price are available, which includes the GTX 1070 and 1080. That are currently being sold cheaper than the new AMD VEGA lineup, offering similar or better performance.
Long story short, the current market for AMD VEGA cards are higher than expected. Which certainly is bad for AMD. As VEGA was supposed to be a cheaper solution compared to NVIDIA. Which does not seem to be the case right now, but things might settle down with time. When other AIB partners come out with their custom designed VEGA 56 and 64 cards.
What do you think about the current VEGA situation and its pricing ?
