Hwbattle leaks out a detailed review about AMD Radeon RX Vega 64, of both of it’s Air and Liquid cooled models

Hwbattle leaks out a detailed review about AMD Radeon RX Vega 64, of both of it’s Air and Liquid cooled models. The reviews covers the features of RX Vega 64 extensively, it have an appetite of over 300W. We shall be seeing both the air cooled RX Vega 64 black and RX Vega liquid cooled models in the review. Without any delay, let’s get down to the review.
Curtains up!

Let the review begin

.AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 consists of 12.5 billion transistors the latest 14nm GFX9 core architecture, based on Next Compute Engine (NCU), with dimensions approximating 484 mm2 .These 12.5 billion are deployed over Vega 10 graphics core. RX Vega will be having be featuring 64 Compute Units, equaling to 4096 steam processors, along 256 TMUs. Although the  max speed of the RX Vega is 1700 MHz, but the AMD is planning to increase clockspeed of the chip which will enable it to outperform Fiji GPU which is based on the 28nm GCN 3.0 architecture and comes with the same number of cores, 4096 SPs.That’s only half of the story, RX Vega comes with 8 GB of HBM2 VRAM distributed equally over two stacks.

The Fiji outscores the AMD when it comes to bandwidth, with 512 GB/s ,while AMD having a total rated bandwidth of 484 GB/s. The card will be featuring 4 MB of L2 cache and 45 MB of SRAM, with a pixel fill rate of 90 GPixels/s. All these figures and all at once will make many confuse, to get a better picture, we will put all these figures in pictures below.

Hwbattle did a complete dissection of RX Vega series, its worth watching

The RX Vega 64 reference model and RX Vega 64 limited edition have quite a price gap, with the reference model and limited edition both being the same in terms of PCB design and clockspeed, Reference Model Starts at $499 US and Limited Edition at $599 US. Why the price gap? To know the answer you must look both of them in pictures below,

Satisfied? I bet you are! Both of them are air cooled, you can easily notice that the reference edition is quite simple in appearance while limited edition looks like a work of art. The limited edition as the name suggests, will be for a limited time, so hurry up if you want to get one for yourselfThe liquid cooled RX Vega 64 is way cooler! With a clocking ticking higher than its other siblings.Last but definitely not the least, RX Vega 64 liquid cool is for serious gamers who wants a tough GPU to get them though some tough and heavy situations in gaming. It is obvious that the liquid cool variant of the Vega series will be better at handling loads, as it won’t heat up easily. It will be available at price 699$ US and this beast is going to need a powerful power supply unit to supply it with 350W TDP at max loads. Have a look at this beast!

For those who wants to dig even deeper.

RX Vega 64 requires more than 300W to clock optimally, in order to compete with a  Stock GeForce GTX 1080, Benchmarks says.Looks like power consumption is still an issue with GPUs from and needs to be addressed. The Radeon Wattman utility will have four modes for Radeon RX Vega graphics cards, these include: Power Saving (-25% Power Limit) Balanced (0% Power Limit) Turbo (+15% Vega 64 / +25% Vega 56 Power Limit) Uber Mode (+50% Power Limit).

AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Power Consumption:

AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Power Consumption 1 Hwbattle leaks out a detailed review about AMD Radeon RX Vega 64, of both of it’s Air and Liquid cooled models

AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Air Power Consumption Results:From the statistics below, it is evident that the when the card is consuming less power, this clockspeed is greatly compromised and so the graphic performance of the card too. The RX Vega 64 air cooled model consumes about 327W while balanced mode and gives an average clockspeed between 1450-1500 MHz. In turbo and OC mode consumed over 350W while delivering the highest clock frequencies around 1550 MHz. The power saving mode saved power to 245W but reduced the clockspeed to 1200-1400 MHz.

AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Power Consumption Results

The liquid cooled RX Vega 64 performed slightly in providing better clocks but sips in even more power to remain optimal. In balanced mode, it gives an average 1650 MHz clock speeds, while consuming 380W. And to reach 1700 MHz frequency, you will need to provide 460W of power to the card. The power saving requires onle 288W but brings down the clockspeed to averages around 1450-1500 MHz. The Liquid model can consume over a shockingly high 500W of power with +50% power limit.Put pics here!Lets run some games on both the liquid cooled RX Vega 64 and the GTX 1080 FE.Multiple games were tested on both rivaling card at different resolutions like 4K (2160p), 2K (1440p) and HD (1080p) by some benchmarks. Though the results are quite mixed. But it gives the fans of different games a better insight on which card to go for.

RX Vega 64 ticking better than GTX 1080

Radeon RX Vega 64 was able to beat the GTX 1080 FE in Battlefield 1 while Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Civilization VI, Metro Last Light Redux, Rise of The Tomb Raider and Titanfall 2 while being $200 US cheaper than the liquid cooled model.More results shall soon be out by different benchmarks, up till now, the battle between the AMD RX Vega series and the GTX 1080 keeps shifting over the course of time. Stay tuned to get more info about the which of the two is the best.
