Toshiba-OCZ to release ‘XS700 series of portable SSDs’ with up to 240 GB of capacity!

Toshiba had some hard times in the past due to the constant financial losses but it seems like that the kings of the past are recovering now! A subsidiary of the Japanese company, named OCZ has rolled out the XS700 series of portable SSDs.

What’s Under The Hood?

Speaking of what the users will get to experience, is a 95 mm x 75 mm x 11 mm drive that is slightly bigger than an internal 2.5-inch drive. Here are some of the features and specifications of the portable SSD:

  • An aluminum body with diamond-cut edges
  • USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) interface
  • Backward compatibility to older USB generations
  • A single cable plugging into the drive’s type-C connector for both power and host connectivity
  • A 3D BiCS TLC NAND flash memory
  • Sequential reads and writes of up to 530 MB/s and 480 MB/s respectively
  • A Phison S11 DRAM-less controller wired to the NAND flash
  • Connected over SATA 6 Gbps to a VIA Labs VL715 chip

The $200 XS700 Series Portable SSDs will be covered under a 3-year warranty program. Initially, the drives will be only available in a 240 GB capacity.
